Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus. He lived in the 15th and 16th centuries in Punjab, India. Guru Nanak’s teachings emphasize the worship of one God, the importance of meditation, selfless service (seva), and the rejection of social divisions. The central scripture of Sikhism, the Guru Granth Sahib, contains his compositions.
